THE EVENT - Offerings

The money raised throughout the year and at the Detling Summer Celebration helps to fund the conference itself as well as meeting the needs of many charities, locally and nationally, through tithes and gifts.

Assistance is also offered to individuals with financial difficulties who are unable to pay to attend the conference as well as other unforeseen requirements.

Each year, several organisations, both Christian and secular, are chosen and supported through a tithe of the offerings.

Causes supported in the past have included:

  • XLP - working amonst the young people in south-east London
  • Compassion UK - sponsoring children across the world
  • The Jade Crossing - supporting the construction of a footbridge across the A249

With love from Detling 2010...

People without Limits have chosen two organisations to benefit from our tithe offering this year. They are the Message Trust and the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East (FRRME).

The Message – transforming youth culture, one new disciple at a time.

The MessageToday’s young people are exposed like never before to a materialistic, Godless lifestyle championed by persuasive, appealing role models whose lives are built on shifting sand.

21st century youth culture is about as far away from the Kingdom of God as it’s possible to be –  and proud of it – and yet many young people are insecure, lonely, emotionally hurt and worried about their future.

For almost 20 years, The Message has been infiltrating this enemy stronghold, communicating the Gospel through music, dance, theatre and one to one friendship with young people in the toughest communities of the UK, beginning in Manchester and now spreading to other cities throughout the UK. We’re in contact with over 100,000 young people each year, 5,000 of them on a regular basis through partnerships with local churches.

We unashamedly preach Christ in schools, prisons, youth centres and streets but, because we do it in a culturally relevant way and because the outcomes are socially beneficial, even the secular agencies applaud. The Manchester Evening News said about us recently: “The wasted youth of our inner cities represent perhaps the greatest problem society faces. But one glimmer of hope is being provided by a dynamic charity – one of Manchester’s best-kept secrets.”

The Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith said: “I have visited The Message’s Eden project in Manchester on a couple of occasions . . . it is remarkable. Committed people living on the estates and not prepared to take the usual story. They have changed the whole place, restored some stability and are giving kids a chance and re-establishing family life. It’s a fantastic story and obviously driven by faith.”
